Introducing Adeu: The AI Toolbox Purpose-Built for In-House Legal

Built Different

We built Adeu to work differently than other legal AI tools:

• Built for In-House, Not Law Firms: Most legal AI tools are designed for law firms doing billable client work. Adeu is built for in-house teams managing internal demand, with different workflows, different priorities, and different success metrics.
• End-to-End Context: From the first email request to the signed contract, Adeu maintains the full thread. Who requested it, why, what changed during negotiation, what obligations remain. No context lost between handoffs.
• Open, Not a Black Box: Enterprise legal AI tools are proprietary and opaque. You can't see how they work or verify their outputs. Adeu OSS gives you transparent, auditable code. See exactly how your documents are processed.

Introducing Adeu OSS

Alongside the platform, we're launching Adeu OSS: a growing collection of open-source components for legal AI infrastructure.

A big part of our open-source commitment is supporting the growing community of lawyers who have started building their own tools. We've seen legal professionals frustrated by the closed environments of legal tech AI tools, unable to customize solutions for their specific workflows or verify how their data is being processed. They're taking matters into their own hands, learning to code and creating solutions tailored to their needs.

Adeu OSS is for them. We're building the foundational components that this community can use, extend, and contribute to.

The First Component: DOCX Redlining Engine

The first component in the Adeu OSS collection is our DOCX redlining engine. Word documents are everywhere in legal work, but their XML structure is notoriously complex. When AI tries to edit DOCX files directly, it often corrupts the underlying markup or loses formatting.

Our redlining engine solves this by treating the DOCX as a "Virtual DOM", presenting clean, readable text to AI while handling all the XML reconciliation behind the scenes. It provides:

• Native Track Changes: Real w:ins and w:del elements that Microsoft Word understands natively
• Comments & Threads: Full support for document comments and threaded discussions
• Negotiation Actions: Built-in ACCEPT, REJECT, and REPLY operations for contract negotiations
• Multiple Interfaces: Available as an MCP Server, Python library (pip install adeu), and CLI tool
